Woodlawn sits very close to Lake Michigan. Its main attractions are the very popular landmarked 63rd Street Bathing Pavilion that serves as the signature indoor portion of the beach and Jackson Park. This park was designed by the same person who designed New York’s Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted.
Jackson Park is a 500-acre (2 km²) park on Lake Michigan in the neighborhoods of Woodlawn, Hyde Park, and bordering South Shore.
Attractions inside Jackson Park include Osaka Garden, the Jackson Park Golf Course, Jackson Park Harbor, Wooded Isle, the gilded Daniel Chester French statue Republic (a replica of a much larger statue built for the Columbian Exposition), several lagoons, and the 63rd Street Beach with its magnificent beach house.
